A Different Type of Hypnosis
Where classical hypnosis is authoritative and direct and often encounters resistance in the client, the Ericksonian approach is permissive, accommodating and indirect. Because the induction takes place during a normal conversation, Ericksonian hypnosis is often known as Covert or Conversational Hypnosis. Affording greater trust, a more relaxed environment for both client and therapist and is favoured within Access Health.
Bio-feedback is where Science Fiction meets Therapy. In normal therapy, the Therapist would watch for visual signs and ask some questions to ascertain if the treatment was working or the correct levels of trance had been gained before suggestions could be given. The technique described can be very hit or miss and is not a skill easily learned. Getting it wrong would mean a limited result which is detrimental to the client. Utilising Bio-feedback equipment that measures the electrical signals passing through the body (Similar to an ECG but without all the wires!) the grey area where the client is either too deep (Asleep) or not deep enough, can be seen and measured on a screen, ensuring that the session is maximised in its potential to achieve the aim. It is extremely useful in Speaking Therapy as it identifies immediate responses and stress levels continually. The equipment is noninvasive and records the session throughout, which you can take with you as a printout to impress friends after you leave.

One size does not fit all! In the same circumstances, one person may be relaxed and happy while another becomes stressed.
